The De La Salle University Green Archers launch their comeback in the UAAP by snagging the Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Invitational Cup against NCAA Defending Champions San Beda Red Lions 89-81 yesterday at The Arena in San Juan.

Arguably the two top teams in Philippine Collegiate Basketball today, the Archers showed what basketball fans missed during their suspension in the past year, relying on the firing guns of JVee Casio, Cholo Villanueva and Tournament MVP TY Tang. The match proved to be a seesaw battle from beginning to end until the Red Lions suffered from the foul trouble of its team leaders Pong Escobal and Yousif Aljamal.

It was a match-up rich in tradition and history. It was Christmas in June as the venue was painted red and green, but the battle on the hardcourt was truly one for the books. Congratulations to the Green Archers for regaining their top form! Courage Red Lions! Now let’s aim for that BACK to BACK!
